We are pleased to announce that the 9th International Summer School for Translation Theory and Practice of the SummerTrans- series on the topic of “Human vs. Machine Translation with a focus on Legal Translation” will take place from 21 to 27 September 2025 in the South Tyrolean Alpine city of Bozen/Bolzano, Italy.
The SummerTrans IX offers a broad variety of courses on new developments relating to theory and practice in translation, interpreting and terminology. This year's seven-day SummerTrans programme brings together leading experts and researchers from various universities in Europe and provides a platform for exchanging ideas and discussing new developments in the theory and practice of translation and terminology, with a special focus this year on legal terminology and legal translation. In addition to the courses (in English or German), the programme offers a variety of cultural events as well as a Round table and a "PhD School" as a discussion forum for PhD projects, during which the PhD School participants will be awarded the official IATI "Young Researcher Award" for their best research projects.
SummerTrans IX is organised by the Institute of Applied Linguistics of Eurac Research and by the Department of Translation Studies at the University of Innsbruck under the auspices of the International Academy for Translation and Interpreting IATI , with the support of various sponsors. Regular registration fee: €600
Student registration fee: €300
Coffee breaks are included in the registration fee. Please note that lunches are not included.

The deadline for early-bird registration is 15 May 2025.
The deadline for full participation registration is 15 July 2025.

1st IATI Summer School "SummerTrans I", Innsbruck, 14th - 27th July 2004
In summer 2004, the IATI hosted its first International Summer School of Translation Science "SummerTrans I" at the University of Innsbruck, offering a wide variety of courses on theoretical and practical aspects of translation and interpreting.
The "SummerTrans I" in Innsbruck was very successful and met with a great response (participants from 15 countries from Europe and the USA), with very positive feedback requesting continuation.
